Questions
What does Melanotan II actually do?⌄
It stimulates your body to produce more melanin - the pigment responsible for skin tanning - while also activating melanocortin receptors that drive libido. It produces a deeper tan and, as a secondary effect, increased sex drive.
How is MT-2 taken?⌄
By subcutaneous injection, starting at 250 mcg and titrated upward based on response. It is taken in the evening during the loading phase. Once the target tan is achieved, dosing shifts to a maintenance frequency.
What are the main safety concerns with MT-2?⌄
MT-2 darkens existing moles, so a baseline mole check is required before starting. Nausea is common especially early in the protocol. Spontaneous erections are a known side effect in men. It is excluded for anyone with a cancer history or during pregnancy.
Who should not use MT-2?⌄
People with a personal cancer history or who are pregnant should not use MT-2. The cancer-history exclusion is firm.
Is Melanotan II FDA-approved?⌄
No. It is a research compound and not FDA-approved.
What is the evidence quality for MT-2?⌄
Anecdotal. The evidence base is not at the clinical trial level.
Can MT-2 be combined with PT-141?⌄
Yes, PT-141 is listed as a synergistic companion for protocols targeting both tanning and libido.
